Great Price Heuck 33004 for $24.63

Heuck 33004 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 17 Inch Reversible Griddle Review



I purchased this after searching for a cast iron griddle I could use in my Weber Baby Q (100) so that I could make breakfasts, heat tortillas etc. The Heuck 33004 fits my Weber perfectly, so that I can remove the original grate, lay this one on top of the Baby Q and even close the lid.

This is a much better solution than the Weber 6504 Baby Q Griddle Weber Q 6504 Griddle, which is a smaller plate that sits on top of the existing grate. The Heuck gets four stars for meeting the need that most of the 6504 reviewers asked for: a griddle that replaces the Baby Q grate.

I'm holding back a fifth star because the qualify of the finish is not as good as other griddles. I can see that it will take a while before the seasoning is complete enough to make up for the slight roughness of the flat cooking surface. All in all though, this is exactly what I needed.

This was my holiday gift to myself, after years of mismatched low quality pots and pans. I cook a lot and suddenly it struck me: this could be better! After shopping around and learning some stuff, this set seemed to be the one that offered outstanding quality and amazing price all rolled into one. What I wasn't prepared for was the esthetic quality of the pans--half the pleasure of using them is in the visual appreciation. And while a tad bit over the top, the opening of the new set rivals an Apple unveiling experience.

We did realize, once we started using the set, that we were missing a critical piece: the 4 quart saucepan which we use for soups at least 4 times a week during the winter. We've added that now, and are good to go.

Excellent choice, we're very happy!

Roast until the onion is transparent,Stirring frequently. Stir in garlic, salt and pepper. Add the red wine and stirring to loosen browned bits. Stir in both cans of soup, tomatoes with their juice, potatoes, carrots and barbecue sauce. Mix well, cover and cook in oven for at least 3 hours. Before serving, remove the Dutch oven and place on stove over medium heat. Reduce, stirring constantly, until thick sauce to desired consistency. Add the peas and beans and stir until heated through. Serves 10

I agree with reviewer, Kay Doggett, and I enjoy my 2003 purchase of Leyse covered 1qt & 3qt saucepans from a well respected local store known for consumer-friendly prices. I purchased what I needed at the time but had the local merchant offered this Leyse set for anywhere near Amazon's price I would have snapped it up.

The handles never get hot on the range top and the saucepans (in fact all the pieces of this line) can be placed in the oven. It is all metal -- there is nothing to burn.

I use Bar Keepers Friend stainless steel cleansing/polishing powder on them, after regular washing, to remove the discolorations stainless steel does get, and they still look great!

If someone needed an entire set of serviceable, good looking, use every day of the week cookware this would be the set to get. Mine were made in China and if I suddenly had to replace all my stainless cookware I would purchase this set in preference to my current Resto/Cuisinart/Leyse mix.
